Are you curious how to get to and around the islands? Washington State runs a ferry system departing from Anacortes, WA and a reservation is always recommended. Roughly 160 kilometers northwest of Seattle, the most frequently visited islands are the four with ferry service: Lopez, Orcas, San Juan and Shaw. The island group is know for world class whale watching, farm to table dinning, hiking, kayaking and all types of boating.
